The NIALS Journal of Legislative Drafting invites articles and commentaries for publication. The Journal which is peer – assessed is devoted to Law and Legal Development and emerging issues in Legislative Drafting, which includes legislative style and technique, legal concept and theory, modern drafting techniques, legislative form and arrangements, substantive provisions of a law, the judicial process and legislative drafting, legislative syntax and expression, constitutional considerations in legislative drafting, among others.
For the second time in the series, the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies organized a Training Course for NDLEA Senior Prosecutors under the UNODC implemented project ‘Response to Drugs and related Organised Crime in Nigeria’ sponsored by the European Union (EU). The Course was held between August 8 – 10, 2016 at Ayo Ajomo Auditorium of the Institutes Office in UNILAG, Akoka, Lagos.The course was designed to strengthen the capacity of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
Following the judge’s comprehensive review of all the entries, three (3) entrants were adjudged Winners as follows:

Ijeoma Anozie – Second Runner- Up
It is worthy of note to state that the key outcome of this Competition is the renewed interest of Research Fellows to pursue in-depth studies and classified researches that will improve their work.
The Director General recently attended an International Workshop on the evolving Role of Prosecutor in domestic and international spheres.
In his presentation which focused on the Independence and Accountability framework for exercising prosecutorial powers the Professor Adekunle reviewed Nigerian constitutional provisions and the extent to which prosecutorial powers which the Constitution granted an Attorney General can be supervised by (a) the courts; or (b) the legislature.
A NIALS Research Fellow, Mrs Jane Ezirigwe was on 7th July, 2016 declared the Winner of the SEERIL IBA Annual Conference Scholarship Competition 2016. The Essay competition, which is very competitive, is designed for young legal scholars from all over the world. Mrs Jane Ezirigwe from Nigeria will be sponsored by the IBA to the next IBA Conference coming up in September, 2016. She holds an LL.B degree from the University of Abuja, Nigeria and attended the Nigerian Law School, Bwari Campus, graduating with a Second Class (Upper Division) from both institutions. She also holds an LLM (Economic Regulation) with Honours Distinctions from the University of London, United Kingdom. She has been a recipient of various other awards and scholarships within the past ten years, including the University of London award for Academic Excellence. The Director General, on behalf of the NIALS family, salutes her competitive spirit and wishes her well as a Nigerian ambassador to the world.
