Award Achievement: Chukwuemeka is a Research Fellow with the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. He is a qualified lawyer in Nigeria and is qualified as a Solicitor of England and Wales. Mr Nwabuzor had his LLM (with distinction) from Queen Mary University of London in 2009. Between 2010 and 2011, he worked with the law firm of Dylan Conrad Kreolle in London as a criminal defence caseworker/solicitor. He also engaged in general corporate and employment law practice in the firm. Mr Nwabuzor has presented papers on Prosecutorial Discretion under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, Reforms to Speed up Criminal Trials under the ACJA, Criminal and Civil Assets Forfeiture, Management of the Proceeds of Crime and on Mutual Legal Assistance. He has also successfully organised workshops collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC) the Nigeria Police Force, prosecutors of the Federal Ministry of Justice, prosecutors of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and prosecutors of anti-corruption agencies on the reforms introduced by the ACJA. He has represented NIALS at deliberations of the Presidential Committee on FATF, focusing on the Proceeds of Crime Bill and the Terrorist (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill and has served as a rapporteur for the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption’s 2016 Workshops ‘On the Role of Judges in the Fight against Corruption’ and ‘The National Stakeholders Workshop on Recovery and Management of Recovered Assets’. He has a list of publications to his credit and co-edited two NIALS publications – Issues on the Administration of Criminal Justice in Nigeria (2016) and Money Laundering: Law and Policy (2014). He teaches Substantive Provisions in the LLM and PGD classes of the Akinola Aguda School of Postgraduate Studies, NIALS.
