Admission Requirements –

 

Qualification
Candidates for admission to the M.Phil/Ph.D. degree programmes shall, in addition to fulfilling the requirements for the PGD programme, also possess the following:
  1. LL.M in Legislative Drafting of the Institute; or
  2. LL.M in Legislative Drafting from any other recognized University from the Commonwealth Law System or the United States of America; or
  3. LL.M from any other recognized University.

A candidate for the M.Phil/Ph.D. degree may, additionally, be required to undergo a selection exercise

Prospective  M.Phil/PhD students shall in addition to the requirement for LLM admission, possess the following:

(i) LL.M in Legislative Drafting of Institute; or

(ii) LL.M in Legislative Drafting from any other recognised University from the  Commonwealth Law System or the United States of America; or

(iii) LL.M from any other recognized University.

 

A prospective student for the M.Phil/Ph.D degree may additionally be required to undergo a selection exercise. Where a candidate does not have a LLM degree in Legislative drafting, the candidate shall be required to undertake such other pre-requisite or concurrent studies as may be prescribed by the Institute.

All prospective M.Phil/PhD students shall first be admitted into the M.Phil programme.

Prospective students shall be required to provide:

  • A research proposal  (of not more than 2500 words including the title of the thesis, research question/ thesis abstract, outline of the study, research methodology, time frame, summary and contribution to knowledge and bibliography).
  • A 'Statement of Purpose' (one to two pages long, include any relevant additional information regarding the application, such as reasons for wanting to do a PhD).
  • An up to date CV.

*Admission is offered only to Applicants that are not in Full-Time employment (Applicants in Full-Time employment will be required to take a Study Leave) and are not undertaking Full-Time Studies elsewhere during the study period.
