About the Institute

The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies is Nigeria’s apex institution for research and advanced studies in law. It was a brainchild of the legal academic community established in March 1979. One of the main ideas in founding the Institute was to establish it as the centre for advanced legal research for all the Nigerian universities with Faculties of Law, so that all postgraduate work could be undertaken there under the joint auspices of the most experienced and learned academic lawyers available in the country, whether indigenous or foreign.

The Institute Management and staff led by the Director -General, Prof. Adedeji Adekunle paid a condolence visit to the family of the pioneer Institute Secretary, Late Prof. Zaccheaus Olomojobi at his residence in Lekki, Lagos State on January 10, 2017.

The Director-General and his entourage were received by the widow of Late Prof. Zaccheaus Olomojobi, Honorable Justice Olomojobi (Rtd) and some other members of the family.

 

The D G expressed his condolence to the family and said though some members of staff had visited the family, the Institute Management deemed it fit to pay a special condolence visit considering Prof. Olomojobi's immense contributions as pioneer Institute Secretary. He prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the lost. The D.G, on behalf of the Management and staff of the Institute presented a token to the family and assured the family that the Institute will participate in all the burial programmes. In her response, Hon Justice Olomojobi (Rtd) thanked the D-G for paying a condlate husband by the Newspaper publication placed by the Institute on the death of her husband.

The D.G was accompanied by Principal Officers including: the Ag. Institute Secretary, Mrs. S. N Jerry- Imahiagbe; Ag Institute Librarian, Dr. Jide Owoeye; Chief Accountant Mr Omoniyi Matthew Ojo; Chief Internal Auditor, Mr Alexander Ogunsanmi; Protocol Officer, Mr Fidelis Ibhagboisoria and Mrs Omolara Otokiti Ali.

Similarly, the D-G led another delegation to the commendation service at the SDA Church in Babcock University, Ogun State on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, while the Ag. Institute Secretary represented the D-G at the wake keep and interment ceremonies at Ipoti- Ekiti, Ekiti State on January 18 and 19, 2017 respectively.
