Practice and Procedure is one of the Institute’s oldest and successful courses. It was introduced 34 years ago in response to the need for Continuing Legal Education of Private Legal Practitioners, Judges, State Counsel, Corporate Lawyers, Academics, Legal Advisers and Law Officers in Government Agencies. The course is set to run for the second time this year as a result of high demand from participants who were unable to participate in the first module of the course but find it beneficial to their job.
The course seeks to:
• Ensure justice delivery in our courts by providing Continuing Legal Education to Private Legal Practitioners, Judges, State Counsel, Corporate Lawyers, Academics, Legal Advisers and Law Officers in Government Agencies, in the following areas of Frontloading and the Civil Process; Cross-Examination Techniques in Civil and Criminal Trials Brief writing; Case Flow management; Election Petitions: Practice and Proceedings; Enforcement of Human Rights; Practice and Procedure in the Sharia and Customary Court Systems; Professional Ethics for the Bar and the Bench
• Develop the law by training participants on the recent landmark developments in law and practice
• To help equip the young lawyers in both Private Practice and Government employment on the rules of practice and procedure.
