About the Institute

The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies is Nigeria’s apex institution for research and advanced studies in law. It was a brainchild of the legal academic community established in March 1979. One of the main ideas in founding the Institute was to establish it as the centre for advanced legal research for all the Nigerian universities with Faculties of Law, so that all postgraduate work could be undertaken there under the joint auspices of the most experienced and learned academic lawyers available in the country, whether indigenous or foreign.

The Institute’s specialised Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Legislative Drafting will be given greater boost as its academic staff prepare for the commencement of the NIALS Online Programme in Legislative Drafting.

Through the support of the Institute’s online programme development partner- Emerging Platforms, an Electronic Learning Management System (ELMS) has been designed for the Online Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting and Masters Degree in Legislative Drafting.
On the 1st of March, 2017, the Institute’s academic staff were trained on how to effectively utilise the ELMS to achieve the same educational results as its classroom based postgraduate degree. Administrative staff were also trained on administrative support issues. The training was conducted  by technical staff of Emerging Platforms. Certificates were issued to all NIALS staff who participated.
The ELMS portal which is now live at: http://nialsilearn.edu.ng will provide an avenue for interactive distance learning and students’ forum discussions.
The ELMS will be fully deployed and launched as soon as the test running of the portal is concluded. Kindly stay tuned by following us on Facebook and Twitter or by visiting our website www.nials.edu.ng for more details on the deployment of portal for online learning and for the opening of applications for Online Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting and Masters Degree in Legislative Drafting .
