39th Advanced course in practice and procedure (second stream), which is one of the institute regular courses took place on the 28th – 30th october, 2019 at Gurara hall of rock view classic hotel, Abuja, the opening remarks were made by the Director- General of NIALS ably represented by Prof. Peter Akper SAN OFR.
The topics discussed at the workshop are procedural issues arising from ACJA. Pleadings: principle and technique, brief writing in court of appeal and supreme court, civil and criminal appeals to the courts of appeal and supreme court respectively, alternative dispute resolution: practice and procedure, cross examination techniques: civil and criminal trials election petition: practice and procedure, digital forensic and preparation of expert witness. Judgement and cost enforcement, presenting evidence: principles and techniques etc. And they were facilitated by renowned experts on pleadings and procedure and the likes of it such as Hon. Justice O.A.Adeniyi, Prof. Adedeji Adekunle SAN, Mrs. Joy Adesina SAN, Mr. Bola Olotu Esq, Mr. Chima Okereke, Prof. Paul Idornigie SAN, Mr. Henry Michael Ihunde Esq, Mr. Patrick Ikwueto SAN, Mr Geoffrey Okolorie, Mr. Max Ogar.
The course recorded fifty five (55) participants from within and outside Abuja, some of the participants were nominated by AMCON, Nigerian Ports Authority, F.C.T high Court, National Judicial Council, Ministry of justice, kano, Kebbi, Anambra, Gombe, Edo and Uyo, NAICOM, federal Mortgage Bank, National Judicial Council, Nigeria Social Insurance trust Fund (NSITF), National Media Exploitation Centre (NMEC), Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Ministries of Justices and Law Firms across Nigeria.
